What's good everybody! This is ya boy M. Burmy, and I'm a Senior Blurbwriter for DJBooth.net.

Just wanted to let ya know I'm a HUGE Jazzy supporter, and have now been called on to write most of the info relating to her. The Booth prides itself in helping showcase and break out new talent, and we couldn't be happier with her success!

So, without further ado, here's a summary of the history of Jazmine Sullivan and her music on DJBooth.net.

http://www.djbooth.net/index/tracks/review/jazmine-sullivan-i-need-u-bad/

That's the blurb for "Need U Bad"...this song skyrocketed her career as a Booth favorite, just like it would her career in the mainstream.

Here are some reviews the Boothsters made:

"J Records is making a BIG push with this girl; I assume they will be very pleased with the feedback thus far. Nice voice + pretty face = popularity = sales."
- DJ Z, Vice-President/Media Director

"If you’re into reggae (feelin that bassline in your chest), you’ll love this. If you’re not, then it should make you become. It’s interesting actually that A_NAY mentions the CHORUS as the best part, cuz that’s exactly what you’ll like the most if you’re also not into reggae: it suddenly turns into a regular R&B joint. I’m IMPRESSED with the production coming from Missy Elliot! Very good and complex, but maybe the transition from verses to chorus could be less abrupt (some instruments come in, some go out and you can hear a vacuum, like out of place for a second). Jazmine’s voice is distinctive, NICE VOCALS! Melody and lyrics are a PLEASURE TO LISTEN."
- FredRico, frequent reviewer

"polykween91: OMFG!! U TOOK DA WORDS OUT MY MOUTH?!?!?! she really does remind me of lauryn hill mixed wit a lil shareefa....nice strong voice, but i hate da way da song keeps switchin up tho...if dey change up sum things it could b a 4, but rite now ima give it a 3...look forward to hearing more of jazmine..."
-gemini goddess 16, frequent reviewer

"Lauren Where you at! I miss u so much. Jazmine can sing her butt off. She is a looker too. The beat is Fire. I think we may have something here. I wanna hear more from this young lady."
-BDF44, another frequent reviewer

"I love the musical change in direction in this song and definitely am feeling her powerful and mature sounding voice. Philly be putting out some real soulful singers. Always have to give a lil extra for singers that write their own material and lets be real she's a banger too."
-Avothello

"Classic track... you'll be talking about this song in 10 years! Never heard a mid tempo "sympathy" love track"
-ReggieHayze

"love the song..
her voice is madd unique and beautiful..she's so much diff than alot of what we have and sumthn new and jst what music needs right now..not knockin the greats like beyonce and mariah..but it's nice to see a new face and hear a new sound."
-so totally glam...

"Need U Bad" floated around the DJBooth R&B Charts for 10 weeks...and that was just the beginning.

Now to the Bust Your Windows blurb:

http://www.djbooth.net/index/tracks/review/jazmine-sullivan-bust-your-windows/

The positive reviews came back: I'll give you a few:

"Great production, creative lyrics, innovative style... too bad it's everything the radio hates. She pretty much sings her ass off on this song. Definitely a banger!"
-Shiraz

"Jazmine is finna bring the sex appeal back for our chocolate skinned divas. I was digging "Need U Bad", but this right here! This is way better! This is going to blow her up! I swear it will. This production is awesome and she really snapped vocally. Forget what the radio hates! I feel we are on a movement towards changing what is the modern "radio" sound (Solange with "I Decided", Gnarls Barkley, etc.) This is great. I can't wait for her album. This might be my new baby's mama."
-michaelhannah

(of course, I was quick to come back)

"MH, it all depends on which city she puts first on her tour out of the Twin Cities or Milwaukee (Because if it's Milwaukee, I just might scoop her up myself-fell in love with her since her performance on 106 & Park).

Anyway, this song is SWEEEET, and the album is going to be HUGE! Now this has confirmed what I've been knowing-that girl is the FUTURE. I sure hope she steps inside the DJBooth soon for an interview!"
-Myself

"This song scares me. Dope as hell though. This kinda reminds me of that song by Janelle Monae " Sincerely, Jane" musically. This girl is already one of the strongest voices of this generation. Passion all over this track."
-BDF44

"This is huge goosebumps MUSIC right there! And guess what, she writes her own lyrics! Not that fake co-writing @*#$! thats going on with Beyonce, Ciara etc."
-Big-A

"this is too hot, real far from i need u bad.which had to grown on me, she sounds like a mix between lauryn, alicia and a lil bit of mary, not bad company"
-justokhall

"You can hear the true soul in this one. The original "Need You Bad" was wonderful, the remix kind of killed my dreams for her being unlike the ordinary, but this right here just brought it back. The strength in her voice, the story telling, and the beat that goes up an down with her voice and the story is too smooth. Don't know if this should have been a follow up to such a powerful song like "Need You Bad", but it is definitely not a bad song at all. 4 stars~(**)~"
-Truths Poetic Art

"Philly represent! This girl has so much skill and has a beautiful soulful, passionate voice. I loved her first single and I'm loving this as well! It's def. different from the first song but I like it b/c her voice accommodates the beats."
-luvhiphop

"With the exception of her T.I.-assisted, misguided remix to I Need You Bad, everything that Jazmine has done has been enjoyable. This is certainly no exception. Great voice."
-DJ Z

"I believe Jazmine Sullivan has a beautiful voice.. very unique. Bust your windows is one of the songs if you like it you "Love it" and if you dislike it then you "hate it". Personally, I believe the people hating this song are or have been in the wrong and so they do not like the song because it can reflect what happens to them. If you do right then songs like this wont be written. Although this song may spread an uproar and the community due too broken windows because men or women cheat, i think it is a wake up call and a great follow up song. She is gonna make it, she just proved that she can go from high to low and make it look good!"
-ms_smiles

You get the picture...Positive Booth charting followed, with positive radio charting to come later.

Next up: Jazzy's exclusive interview with our own DJ Z!

OK...now to the remix feat. Tip and Missy:

http://www.djbooth.net/index/tracks/review/jazmine-sullivan-ft-ti-missy-elliot-need-u-bad-remix/

Unfortunately...that was not-so-positively reviewed. However, the criticism was more for the additions than for Jazzy's original vocals.

So, several commenters explained:

"I am really clueless here. Jazmine's original single has been charting on our site for 10 weeks now. She drops a remix that is unchanged, with the addition of a brand new T.I. guest verse, and the ratings drop? Any who can explain why please please please comment or e-mail me. Thanks."
DJ Z, VP/Media Director

Here's how I responded:

"Z, I think I have the answer for you. We all see "Need U Bad" as a "chill" song for the Urban AC market (on my local station of V100.7, it's a perfect choice for their "Quiet Storm" block). The reason why not too many people like this remix is because the remix brings too much energy to the front (kinda like the video). You can't blame T.I. (his flow is trying to be laid-back)-I'd say Missy's more at fault for the overused ad-libs (when her production set the soft mood for this). If I had planned the remix, I'd have made that a duet with Mario (also 21 years old, also signed to J Records, Baltimore's not too far away from Philly). If they'd insisted on a rapper, I'd have picked Cassidy (also from Philly, also signed to J Records, gets deeply creative on his verses). But I give it a 3 anyway because I LOVED the original. Look out for Jazzy's new album "Fearless" currently set to drop September 16-the girl's got skills, and is a big part of the future!"
-Myself

And a new regular reviewer from the Twin Cities, Michael Hannah (better known as local MC Young Son), had this to say:

"Man, the original was untouchable. I commend T.I for being versatile and everything, but I think this song really didn't really need a remix. I mean, it actually did....but maybe with a different rapper. I could've heard Kanye serving this up really nicely to make it a classic. But as Z is saying...nothing much has changed from the original (which was fire), so I'm keeping the rating at 4 stars."
-michaelhannah, Regular Commenter

But the Booth's reviews would rebound...because since she's not one to give up, neither are they!
